The SHINE Mural Festival, an annual celebration by the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, has wrapped up its 11th year of turning our city walls into a vibrant, world-class outdoor gallery. This year’s theme, SHINE: Origins, spotlighted 17 local artists who transformed 19 walls across St. Pete between November 7 and 16.
Since its launch in 2015, SHINE has added more than 170 murals to downtown St. Pete and the surrounding arts districts. The SHINE Mural Festival focuses on revitalizing areas with artwork, encouraging fresh perspectives, and sparking meaningful conversations about shared spaces.
Focusing on local
SHINE: Origins honors the festival’s roots by focusing on local artists, residents, and businesses. This year’s theme is a heartfelt tribute to everyone who has helped build SHINE from the very beginning and solidified St. Pete as a cultural destination.
“After the hurricanes last year and everything our community has been through, it’s important to focus on who we have here,” said Derek Donnelly, local muralist and SHINE organizer. “Focusing on local helps nurture the arts in Tampa Bay and gives our artists more opportunities, so this year was a win-win.”…
