Golf fundraiser for injured deputy offers relief after 12 surgeries

OKLAHOMA COUNTY – The City ofChoctaw Police is organizing a golf tournament as a fundraiser for Deputy Mark Johns after a shooting injury led to 12 surgeries on the path to recovery.

The event is being held on the Choctaw Creek Golf Course starting at 9 a.m. on December 6, 2025.

Mark Johns was with the sheriff’s office for 33 years, according to the announcement, and as part of an eviction call one day, he was ambushed along with his partner Bobby Swartz.

They were both shot in the incident, but Swartz did not survive the injuries.

Johns is currently unable to work, nor is he currently receiving any disability or Worker’s Comp. assistance, according to organizers, so all proceeds from the event will go directly to Deputy Mark Johns…
