PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The City of Woodburn has officially declared a state of emergency amid heightened activity by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in recent months.
During a special meeting held by Woodburn City Council on Friday, council members unanimously adopted the bill, declaring the state of emergency “due to the economic and humanitarian crisis resulting from federal immigration enforcement actions occurring within the City,” according to a release from Woodburn Police.
Within the last few months, Woodburn has become a nexus for ICE activity, with30 people arrested in a single day back in October.
