Loaded gun, cocaine seized in Albany traffic stop

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Two Albany men were arrested following a traffic stop near Clinton Avenue and Ontario Street on Friday, according to the Albany Police Department. 28-year-old Nycream Leverett and 30-year-old Zanique Brown face charges.

Just after 9 p.m., Albany police officers pulled over a car that had reportedly violated a vehicle and traffic law. During the stop, it was determined that Leverett, the rear passenger, had an active arrest warrant out of Albany City Criminal Court from 2023, police said.

Once he was taken into custody, Leverett was allegedly found with a loaded .38 caliber revolver in his waistband. He was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine, authorities said.

The 28-year-old was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned Saturday morning and remanded to the Albany County Jail.

Brown was also taken into custody for reportedly failing to comply with officers’ orders and interfering with Leverett’s arrest, police said. He was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and given an appearance ticket to Albany City Criminal Court at a later date…
