Fear lingers in Charlotte’s immigrant community, businesses plan careful reopening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Central Avenue looks unusually quiet. Parking lots sit nearly empty, and for many driving by, it might look like a holiday — but it’s not for the immigrant community.

“It’s not because we’re not really allowed to be here. It just feels that way,” said Chris Santiago, whose family owns Tacos El Nevado.
