ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A former Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputy who allegedly hit and killed two pedestrians in Perdido Key in July will be charged, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Greg Nesmith, 47, of Pensacola, will be charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the July 5 incident, according to the FHP.
That day, just before 3 a.m., Nesmith was driving an unmarked Escambia County Sheriff’s Office vehicle on State Road 292 in Perdido Key near the intersection of River Road when he allegedly hit two people who were crossing the road.
