The new wave of small businesses that are ‘revamping’ downtown Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Downtown Roanoke has said goodbye to several small business staples over the past two years.

In 2024, restaurant favorites Cabo Fish Taco and Leonore Restaurant either closed up shop or moved out of downtown. In June, Awful Arthur’s Seafood followed suit, closing its downtown Roanoke location, while the summer also said goodbye to popular bookstore Book No Further.

But a new crop of local spots are sweeping in to take their place, ushering in what new business owners are calling a “revamp” of the downtown business scene…
