The City of Sacramento has finalized a contract with The Gathering Inn to manage the expanded northern section of the Roseville Road shelter-and-service campus, called RRC North. The facility is located near the Sacramento Northern Parkway. It will have 100 cabins with electricity, heating, and air conditioning. The site will provide 24/7 services for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Up to half of the units will allow pets, which addresses a common barrier for shelter access.
The Gathering Inn also operates the North 5th Street Emergency Shelter. At RRC North, it will provide case management, meals, and connections to behavioral health and social services. The organization will also support housing navigation. The southern part of the campus will continue to be managed by First Step Communities. The expansion is funded by a $12.35 million Encampment Resolution Funds grant. The grant was awarded in October 2024 by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
