TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – With Thanksgiving less than a week away, hundreds of families in Leon County will now have everything they need for a traditional holiday meal thanks to the third annual Blessing Basket Giveaway.
Organizer Kelly Vinson, a former Big Bend teacher turned real estate agent, launched the effort after seeing the challenges many families face. This year, she expanded the giveaway to all elementary schools in Leon County, compared to just six last year. Her original goal was 280 baskets, but community members surpassed it by donating 313.
