Texas horse virus outbreak tied to competitions prompts Houston arena closures

Texas and Houston-area officials are acting fast in the wake of a fast-spreading and potentially deadly horse virus outbreak linked to competitions.

Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller sent out a message this week to all horse owners who attended or were in proximity to the World Championship Barrel Racing Finals in the Waco region in the last 14 days.
