Huge blaze destroys vacant church in Pottstown, forces 20 residents out of homes, demolition underway

POTTSTOWN, Pa. – Demolition is underway and is expected to be wrapped up within a few hours after a vacant church in Pottstown was destroyed in a massive fire.

20 people have been forced out of their homes after the fire tore through the church. They will be let back into their homes on Saturday morning, according to officials.

Fire Chief Frank Hand says the call came in around 6:20 for the blaze at the vacant church at Hanover and Chestnut streets in Pottstown and quickly escalated…
