Nonprofits unite to rebuild Bat Cave bridge destroyed by Helene

BAT CAVE, N.C. (WLOS) — A community in Bat cave is receiving a Christmas miracle a tad bit early, as a private bridge is being dedicated after being fully restored.

With help from Lutheran Disaster Response and Mennonite Disaster Service, homeowners in Batcave were able to get their bridge repaired after it was destroyed during Helene.

The private bridge at Highway 64 and Bat cave was completely destroyed, leaving residents like Lidya Gongage without access to the outside world for several days…
