Local Graduate Highlights Impact of Southside Virginia Community College on Her Teaching Career

Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is marking American Education Week by recognizing the accomplishments of its alumni, especially those working in education. This year, the college is highlighting Ella Patton, a former student who is now a teacher in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Ella Patton attended The Governor’s School of Southside Virginia program at SVCC. She focused on the humanities, with interests in reading and creative writing. Patton described the program as challenging and said it helped her develop academically and personally. She also noted that the program supported her leadership skills and helped her form lasting connections.
