A look at motions filed from both sides following ruling to halt National Guard deployment in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A handful of motions have been filed as part of an ongoing legal battle to remove the National Guard from the streets of Memphis.

Monday, a Tennessee judge ruled to halt the National Guard deployment in Memphis. The court found that there was neither a “grave emergency,” “disaster,” nor a request from local leaders for the federal deployment, which is required by law.

Since that decision, both the plaintiffs and the defense have filed additional motions as this case continues to move forward. Right now, it’s predominantly procedural steps necessary in this type of case…
