Judge orders mediation in CHOOSE Act lawsuit between Ivey, Ledbetter, AHSAA

A Montgomery County judge ordered mediation Friday in a brief hearing in the ongoing legal battle between Gov. Kay Ivey, Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter and the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) over the athletic eligibility of CHOOSE Act recipients.

The parties met Friday for a scheduled hearing on AHSAA’s motion to dismiss the a lawsuit filed by Ivey and Ledbetter against AHSAA in September. But Judge J.R. Gaines did not hear arguments, and instead ordered the parties into negotiation…
