NORFOLK, Va. — The U.S. Navy has released its Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for its plan to base the MQ-25A Stingray unmanned aircraft system at Naval Station Norfolk.
The proposed action at Norfolk involves establishing a new East Coast MQ-25A squadron to enhance aircraft carrier capabilities and versatility for the Joint Forces Commander. Facilities construction and renovations are expected between 2026 and 2029, with phased occupancy by aircraft and personnel planned between 2031 and 2035.
The Final EA reviewed environmental impacts in areas including air quality, water resources, noise, biological resources, airspace operations, infrastructure, transportation, public health and safety, hazardous materials, and socioeconomics.
