Amarillo Police chase man after attempts at cashing alleged fake check

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department released information regarding an investigation after a man allegedly attempted to cash a fake check at Amarillo National Bank.

According to APD, at around 10:19 a.m. on Nov. 21, officers were dispatched to an ANB located on Tascosa Road for a forgery in progress. On arrival, officers observed the suspects still trying to cash a fake check in the drive-through of the bank.

APD said they attempted to communicate with the driver before he drove off, and officers followed the car into the county. The driver and another person left their car in a parking lot on Climer Road and ran on foot. Officials said both suspects were located and arrested.

The release detailed that the driver was identified as Kenneth Simms, 36, and the passenger, Regina Simms, 38. APD said Kenneth was found in possession of evidence potentially linking him to the commission of a fraudulent transaction at a different bank…
