U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is conducting Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago. The operation focuses on arresting non-citizens with serious criminal convictions. Local officials, including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, have expressed opposition to the operation.
On November 19, 2025, ICE arrested several individuals with prior convictions. Angel Gonzalez Di Luca, a 27-year-old from Venezuela, was convicted of domestic violence with strangulation. Juan Toledo Vasquez, a 54-year-old from Mexico, had convictions for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child and possession of a fraudulent ID. He had been deported twice before.
Other arrests included Jose Juarez Soto, a 31-year-old from Mexico, convicted of domestic battery and criminal recklessness, and Hector Teja Solis, a 34-year-old from Mexico, convicted of armed robbery causing bodily injury.
