Fort Bliss welcomes back 1st Armored Division in uncasing ceremony

The pulling of Velcro strips unfurled the exuberant yellow and red of division flag and the myriad of colors of the campaign ribbons welcomed the 1st Armored Division back to Fort Bliss.

The Uncasing Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 20, was formal recognition that the unit’s mission was returning back to Fort Bliss, Texas after being deployed to Eastern Europe in February 2025. The purpose of the mission was to strengthen the posture of the U.S. Army to respond to conflicts in the region in partnership with allied military forces from other countries.

“What we did over there over the last nine months was to improve what we call the footprint into a war-fighting stance,” Maj. Gen. Curtis D. Taylor, Commanding General of the 1st Armored Division. “That means we are prepared to respond to crisis if we need and we have a logistics infrastructure that’s ready for that. I’m very proud we were able to do all that in the short time period.”…
