Boise welcomes Aaron Hummel as new fire chief after 30 years of service

BOISE, Idaho — After nearly 30 years with the Boise Fire Department, Aaron Hummel has been sworn in as the city’s new fire chief.

During a ceremony on Tuesday, Mayor Lauren McLean administered the oath, recognizing Hummel’s decades of service and rise through the ranks. Hummel joined the department in 1995 and later served as a battalion chief.

Hummel said his leadership will focus on pushing the department forward as Boise grows and technology evolves. “Three of the big pillars for me are in the wellness space, the finance space and innovation,” he said…
