In an open letter addressed to the Chief of Police in Spokane, a concerned resident, Dr. Barney Roca, has raised the alarm about the increasing number of pedestrian and cyclist accidents in the city. According to Dr. Roca, Spokane has become one of the most dangerous cities in the state for pedestrians and cyclists, with a person in Spokane being 2.5 times more likely to be killed as a pedestrian than someone in Seattle. Despite Seattle having four times as many people walking or biking to work, Spokane has an equal number of pedestrian deaths.
