As of November 21, 2025, the Hopper Dredge RB WEEKS began dredging and placing sand between 37th Place E and SE 43rd Street on Oak Island. This work is part of the 2025/2026 Oak Island Beach Nourishment Project. The project will continue 24 hours a day, depending on weather conditions. Residents and visitors should expect more noise, moving equipment, ground vibrations, and some beach closures in these areas.
For safety, the public should stay out of closed construction zones and not approach work crews. The parking lots for Kevin Bell Skatepark and the SE 49th Street Beach Access are closed for project staging.
