First phase of commercial development approved in southern Brunswick County

More commercial development is set to go up near two new grocery stores being built in Carolina Shores.

As Walmart and Publix undergo construction off U.S. 17 in southern Brunswick County, next door plans for a second nearby chain convenience store with gas pumps and restaurants have been submitted and approved.

The Brunswick County Planning Department on Sept. 11 approved site plans to build a Wawa and new burger restaurant at 9990 Ocean Highway West on the corner of U.S. 17 and Calabash Road NW.
