The Massachusetts House is rushing to vote on H.4744, “An Act Relative to Energy Affordability, Clean Power and Economic Competitiveness.” If you favor addressing climate change, review the bill, then contact your elected state legislators. Act quickly before they pull a fast one and pass this Big Step Backwards bill.
Why is a body known for its sloth-like pace suddenly pushing to undo hard-won gains made against climate change? The House TUE (Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy) Committee passed it a few days ago and wants a vote in Ways and Means this week. Campaign contributions to the TUE chair are now coming in from energy suppliers and business associations, which can be seen as rewards from industry lobbyists for pushing H.4744…
