United ends Los Fresnos’ undefeated bid, claims area title

In a game full of rare big plays, Aaden Ochoa found himself looking at nothing but green turf and the end zone ahead of him.

The 41-yard scamper with about 4:30 left in the fourth quarter — and the ensuing two-point conversion — lifted United to a dramatic 27-20 win over the Los Fresnos Falcons on Nov. 22 at Corpus Christi’s Buccaneer Stadium in the Class 6A Division I area round.

“At first, I was thinking of my (offensive line) for making that gap,” Ochoa said about his touchdown run. “Knowing that I helped this team win this game is something I take pride in. I love this team with all my heart, and I do the best of my abilities to help them and do my job as a running back.”

The area title is the 10th for the Longhorns since David Sanchez took over as head coach in 2004…
