DES MOINES, Iowa — It was a clear and chilly overnight and, in spots, a foggy morning. But we ended up with another nice November day. Change is ahead.
A dense fog advisory will be in effect for the area above until mid-morning Monday. Rain will start to move in sometime around the morning drive on Monday, and rain chances will actually persist intermittently until Tuesday evening as a pair of disturbances move over the state. Precipitation totals will be light.
Behind the second system, colder air will start to pour into Iowa on gusty northwesterly winds Tuesday night into Wednesday. Thanksgiving will be chilly.
Medium-rain computer models are showing rain and snow over Iowa next weekend, possibly starting in parts of Iowa sometime Friday and possibly lingering through Sunday. As the storm system that will produce this precipitation is northwest of Japan today, a lot of uncertainty remains regarding timing, placement and amounts. Stay tune to WHO 13 this week for updates.
