BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Some costly turnovers and a costly hamstring injury caught up with Belvidere North Saturday. The Blue Thunder lost their 5A state semifinal game to Wheaton St. Francis 35-13.Belvidere North playmaking running back Ben Bucher was severely limited for this one by a strained hamstring. The injury happened during one of his runs in last week’s quarterfinal game. Bucher spent a good chunk of the game on an exercise bike on the sideline trying to stay loose.The Blue Thunder also hurt themselves by turning the ball over three times in the first half.Belvidere North finishes its historic season with a record of 12-1.
