UNM Police Issue Safety Warning After Reported Fondling Incident at Lobo Rainforest

On November 21, 2025, the University of New Mexico Police Department (UNMPD) issued a warning after a reported fondling incident at the Lobo Rainforest at 101 Broadway NE in Albuquerque. The incident happened around 9:15 a.m. when an unknown man reportedly slapped a woman’s buttocks and then left the area. The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, with black hair, about 5’10” tall, and weighing around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and red jogging pants.

UNMPD received the report at 2:20 p.m. and is asking the public for information. Anyone with details or who notices suspicious activity can contact UNMPD at 505-277-2241 or visit their office at Hokona Hall. Anonymous tips can be sent to Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers, which may offer up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The police department advises the campus community to stay alert and take steps to reduce risk. Suggested safety measures include staying in well-lit, busy areas, being aware of surroundings, and limiting distractions like earbuds while walking.
