17 wheelchairs stolen; holiday tree auction aims to replace what was lost

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque, New Mexico, police havearrested two suspects, James Lucero and Abel Baca, in connection with the theft of wheelchairs from Carrie Tingley Hospital in March, while a third suspect, Jessica Chavez, remains at large.

The stolen wheelchairs, which are thousands of dollars each, are essential for adaptive sports teams, and their absence has prevented kids from practicing for months.
