Trial in toddler’s hot car death moved to Dec. 1 due to courtroom unavailability

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The murder trial of a Visalia woman whose 1-year-old son died after she left him in a car in Bakersfield on a hot June afternoon was postponed Monday to Dec. 1 due to no courtrooms being available.

Prosecutor Stephanie Taconi and Assistant Public Defender Teryl Wakeman both said they’re ready to proceed in the trial of Maya Hernandez. A courtroom may be assigned next week.
