South Carolina law enforcement increasing traffic patrols over Thanksgiving holiday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) — Law enforcement agencies in South Carolina are stepping up traffic enforcement this week as millions of drivers hit the road for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is the busiest travel holiday, with an estimated 73 million people expected to travel by car between November 21 and December 5, according to AAA. That is a higher figure than last year and accounts for nearly 90% of all travelers, a sign that more people are opting to drive to their destinations amid lingering uncertainty at the airports due to the government shutdown.
