A tree lighting ceremony at Partridge Creek Mall on Sunday evening was disrupted when a 17-year-old was shot outside the MJR Theatre. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, according to WXYZ. Clinton Township Police, who were already at the event, responded quickly. Officials said reports of other threats at the mall were false. Police are looking for a person of interest, described as a black male wearing a green hooded sweatshirt with white flowers, jeans, and tennis shoes, last seen fleeing west from the scene.
The mall’s management said, “We are currently working with local law enforcement to gather details on what occurred during tonight’s tree lighting event,” and added, “Guest and staff safety is our top priority, and we will continue to collaborate with Clinton Township Policy Department as they investigate this situation.” During the event, three to four gunshots were fired, causing chaos, and a victim was seen on the ground waiting for an ambulance.
