At 1 a.m., the Jersey City Fire Department responded to 241 Baldwin Ave. and found smoke and fire in the basement of a residential structure, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.
While batting the fire, firefighters located the unconscious man with serious bodily injuries, Mello said.
