Kalamazoo Man Sentenced to 40–70 Years for 2021 Fatal Home Invasion on N. Rose Street

On November 21, 2025, Isaiah Jacole Willhite, 24, was sentenced in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court for his role in a 2021 home invasion and fatal shooting. Judge Rebecca De’Angelo sentenced Willhite to 40–70 years for felony murder and 2 years for felony firearm. The sentences will be served consecutively. Willhite received credit for 703 days already served. He will be eligible for release after serving at least 42 years.

A jury convicted Willhite on July 17, 2025. The charges included felony murder, armed robbery, first-degree home invasion, and several weapons offenses. Most sentences will run at the same time, except for the felony murder and firearm charges, which are consecutive.

The charges are related to a June 26, 2021, incident on the 1300 block of N. Rose Street in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Two masked individuals entered a home during an armed robbery and shot 31-year-old Gerryon Kye. Kye died at the scene. Willhite was later identified as a suspect and arrested.
