UCSB Selected as Training Base for British Paralympic Team Ahead of LA 2028

UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) has been chosen as the official training base for ParalympicsGB ahead of the LA 2028 Paralympic Games. The agreement was signed on campus on November 21, 2024. Attendees included UCSB Chancellor Dennis Assanis, ParalympicsGB CEO David Clarke, and Penny Briscoe, chief of mission for LA 2028. UCSB will host one of the largest preparation camps in ParalympicsGB’s history.

Chancellor Assanis said the partnership offers the UCSB community a chance to interact with athletes and support values of inclusion and performance. He stated that the university aims to provide a supportive and accessible environment for the British team as they prepare for the Games, which will take place from August 15-27, 2028, in Los Angeles.
