Cornell College to cut courses, citing student enrollment and data

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (KCRG) – Cornell College says it plans to cut multiple courses, including many in music and language.

The college announced the change on Friday, citing student enrollment data and interest in the programs to make its decision.

The college will drop the following majors and associated courses in the upcoming semester:

  • Classical Studies, B.A.
  • French and Francophone Studies, B.A.
  • German Studies, B.A.
  • Religion, B.A.
  • Spanish, B.A.
  • Music, B.A.
  • Music Education, B.Mus.
  • Music Performance, B.Mus.
  • “Music programs”

Cornell’s choir/choral ensembles, contemporary/popular music, and musical theatre programs will continue, but other instrumental groups will be paused…
