Mississippi Weather Update: Damaging Winds, Heavy Rain Possible Through Tuesday

Jackson, MS – Severe storms and heavy rainfall are expected to impact much of Mississippi Monday night into early Tuesday morning, bringing threats of flash flooding, damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Forecasters have issued a Level 2 (Slight Risk) for parts of western and central Mississippi, including Vicksburg, Yazoo City, and Greenwood, where damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, quarter-size hail, and tornadoes are possible. Areas farther east—including Jackson, Meridian, and Philadelphia—remain under a Level 1 (Marginal Risk) for isolated severe storms…
