‘Separating us makes us weaker’: Students decry UW-Madison’s DEI cuts

When Qaitlyn Ross applied to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she pointed to the school’s annual Diversity Forum as a reason for wanting to be a student.

Universities can say they value students of color, but it’s another thing to show it, said Ross, now a UW-Madison senior. She called the Diversity Forum “a campuswide commitment to celebrating that we’re here.”

But after hosting the event for over 20 years, UW-Madison won’t be offering a Diversity Forum this fall…
