Amherst County shooting suspect apprehended by Amtrak Police

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Amherst was arrested by Amtrak police in Washington, D.C.

According to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a shooting in progress on Toytown Road, Sunday morning, November 23. There, they found the victim, 39-year-old Kentrell Toliver, with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid at the scene until emergency medical staff arrived. The victim was flown to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville for treatment. The status of his current condition is unknown.

Standoff in Bland County ends with suspect shot by deputies

The suspected shooter, Teron William Slaughter, of Amherst, was taken into custody without incident in Washington, D.C. Slaughter was charged with aggravated malicious wounding.
