(COLORADO SPRINGS) — With a brisk chill flowing through the air rolling off of Pikes Peak, it is finally starting to feel like Thanksgiving. It goes without saying that many of us will spend much of the week in the kitchen, which makes it little surprise that Thanksgiving is the most dangerous day of the year when it comes to kitchen fires.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) estimates that, on a normal day, cooking accounts for four out of every 10 residential fires in the United States. But, according to data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the average jumps by 240 percent on Thanksgiving.
