(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A local organization that offers a safe space for survivors of human trafficking is hoping to raise enough money to purchase a vehicle with larger transportation capacity for its residents. Bakhita Mountain Home is a residential program that offers a rent-free, supportive communal living program for adult women survivors, and it’s holding a year-end “Vanpaign” to raise money to purchase a van or SUV.
Bakhita Mountain Home helps its residents reintegrate into society and helps transport them to appointments and activities. “We have five residents, and so that’s a lot of appointments and a lot of different places to get to,” said Jason Frazier, Executive Director of Bakhita Mountain Home. “We’re talking mental health appointments, to taking them to the grocery store.”
Frazier joined FOX21 Morning News on Monday, Nov. 24, to explain how people can help. Frazier said they are hoping to raise $50,000 to purchase or lease a van or SUV. Those interested in donating or volunteering can contact Bakhita Mountain Home at their website above…
