Troopers arriving to the area on November 23 found that two cars heading south on I-87 were involved in a rear-end collision, causing the front vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a guardrail. That car was then hit by a third vehicle before coming to a stop against another guardrail, according to State Police.
Detectives determined that when the driver that was hit twice got out of his car, the man was reportedly struck by a passing tractor-trailer, sending him into the roadway, where he was hit again by another southbound vehicle. Officials stated on Monday that the victim, whose name has not yet been released, was declared dead at the scene.
