Fresno City Council approves Tower District Specific Plan

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno City Council voted to approve the Tower District Specific Plan on Thursday. District 1 Council Member Annalisa Perea, who oversees the Tower District in part, commented on the passage.

“This plan ensures development will honor the unique cultural identity of the Tower District,” Perea said. “While promoting a more vibrant, accessible, and sustainable community for future generations.”

According to Perea, the Tower District Specific Plan outlines several key goals including;

  • Supporting small businesses, arts, and nightlife to strengthen the Tower District’s role as a regional cultural hub.
  • Improving walkability, bike-ability, and transit access to create safer streets, enhance pedestrian-friendly design, and provide better mobility options.
  • Expanding access to parks and green spaces, and creating new gathering places in partnership with local schools.
