FORT WAYNE — A childcare management company has sued a Fort Wayne church over contract terms and questions of religious governance that both sides argue could determine whether a local childcare ministry remains open. The lawsuit, filed Wednesday, Nov. 12 in Allen Superior Court by 55Red, seeks injunctive relief and a temporary restraining order to prevent The Pointe Church from closing Carepointe Academy. The academy is a state-registered childcare ministry operated under a 2022 management agreement between the church and 55Red.
The company alleges the church threatened to shut down the program after accusing 55Red of failing to follow a curriculum approved by church leadership.
Court filings show the two parties worked together for several years, during which 55Red claims the academy expanded financially. The company argues the church later restricted access to a gym and warehouse it says were guaranteed for academy use and withdrew more than thirty-nine thousand dollars from the academy’s account without explanation.
