Newark and Wilmington Residents Arrested for Copper Wire Thefts Impacting Local Utility Poles

Delaware State Police have arrested Nathan Barrell, 43, of Newark, and Daniel Tiberi, 33, of Wilmington. Police say the two are connected to several copper wire thefts from Verizon utility poles.

Troop 2 Property Crimes detectives investigated three incidents between September and November 2025 in Newark, Delaware. The thefts happened on Possum Park Road, Cornell Drive, and Chapman Road.
