On Monday, November 24, 2025, Hays County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on the 2300 block of Flite Acres Road in Wimberley, Texas. The call involved a 90-year-old woman who had reportedly been assaulted by her adult son.
Upon arrival, deputies found the suspect refusing to respond to commands or submit to arrest, prompting the activation of the Hays County SWAT team due to the suspect’s known history of violence. Using a combination of de-escalation techniques, technology, and controlled tactical measures, SWAT personnel were able to safely locate the individual. After continued refusal to comply, the suspect attempted to flee the room he was occupying and was ultimately apprehended by a K9 unit. The suspect was treated at the scene by medics.
The suspect, 60-year-old Daniel Thomas Grimes, was taken into custody and treated by medical personnel before being booked into the Hays County Jail.
