Detailing the Christian County senior tax credit

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) -A new state law in Missouri says seniors get a break on their real estate taxes. But, it didn’t say how counties should do that.

In Christian County, commissioners put together a senior tax credit. The county collector tells us it does not freeze assessments on property.

Instead, it freezes the amount that you pay so that your tax bill doesn’t change, for the most part. But, two taxes can be changed each year -what you pay for the schools, called debt service – and the state pension for the blind…
