Aurora community holds vigil to honor man who died after being hit by 3 cars

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Friends and family gathered in Aurora on Monday to remember the life of 23-year-old Lennard Dawson Jr. Relatives have identified him as the victim of an auto-pedestrian crash in Aurora last week.

A vigil was held in Aurora’s Highland Hollow Park, where loved ones lit candles and shared memories of Dawson.

“From the time he was born, he would just smile, have this huge smile on his face as a baby,” his mother, Marcia Dawson, said. “And he never let go of his smile. Never.”

Police said they found Dawson just before midnight Thursday in a crosswalk along the Unnamed Creek Trail near the 2700 block of South Tower Road. Witnesses told police that three separate vehicles struck Dawson before he died of his injuries at a hospital…
