Cyberattack takes CodeRED alerts offline, may have accessed personal information

DENVER (KDVR) β€” A cyberattack has taken the CodeRED system offline, a service used by public safety agencies to send emergency notifications to the public. Weld and Douglas counties say they have been impacted by the outage.

β€œIt appears that the impacted dataset may contain contact information of OnSolve CodeRED users: name, address, email address, phone numbers, and/or associated passwords used to create user profiles for alerts. If the same password is used by users for any other personal or business accounts, those passwords should be changed immediately,” the statement said.

On Nov. 14, the Weld County government let residents know that the service was offline, and that an agreement with the Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority had been reached to send alerts to Weld County residents. 911 operations were still functioning correctly during the outage.
