ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A suspected serial rapist will now spend life behind bars for two of his crimes. The charges against Timothy Bachicha date back to 2018, when he was a suspect in eight rape cases.
It’s been nearly two years since 43-year-old Timothy Bachicha was convicted of kidnapping two Albuquerque women. In both cases, prosecutors say, Bachicha raped the women.
Just a few months after Bachicha tried and failed to get a judge to throw out his federal convictions, we now know his sentence. Bachicha was a suspect in eight rape cases from 2018 to years earlier, each of them involving prostitutes.

The state originally charged him with several of the rape cases, but later dropped the charges so the federal government could step in and pursue its own case. “He would not have stopped if the FBI or U.S. Attorney’s office hadn’t taken the case, and I am so glad they did,” said Christine Barber in 2023, with Street Safe New Mexico, an organization that helps vulnerable homeless women in the community…
